Preacher

I was mad about the first graphic novel of Preacher. It had a hardness to its storytelling which was compelling, yet was funny if a bit sick. Sweet. Wasn't fussed on the following novels, but the first did it for me. First time as well I'd seen such a starkly drawn Irish character drawn in a mainly American themed story world, and nailed quite well.

Preacher has elements of noir, and a foreboding sense of tradegy about it, but the fantasy elements go completely against the principals set up by early noir.

It's a 'view' of America that felt more realistic in some ways that the usual fictional media portrayal.

THE GRAPHIC NOVEL APPROACH

So, all this referencing graphic novels, and graphic novels are great blah blah blah, an idea might be to make a graphic novel for one of the episodes and then adapt this to make a screenplay and use both to sell the concept to a broadcaster. That way the world is realised visually and we have something more solid to sell, plus, if we can get lucky enough, make a little bit of animation too.
